The Palaszczuk Government continues to back hundreds of small businesses in Redlands to stay afloat and keep their staff employed during COVID-19 with the latest round of COVID Small Business Adaption Grants delivering more than $2.5 million across more than 280 small businesses in Redland City.
The Capalaba electorate has seen more than $900,000 in grants delivered across a total of 97 businesses. The grants of up to $10,000 can be used for professional advice, marketing, specialised equipment or towards utilities for businesses impacted by COVID-19. Member for Capalaba Don Brown said the grants have been welcomed by local business, as Queensland begins to kickstart its economic recovery.
“We know COVID-19 has been extremely tough on small business and the support we’re providing means businesses can stay afloat and, very importantly, keep their staff employed. “Some have even been able to launch new marketing campaigns to grow their business which is absolutely fantastic to see,” Mr Brown said.
Member for Redlands Kim Richards said she was excited to announce $600K has been delivered to more than 70 businesses across the Redlands electorate. Just some of the successful businesses have included local favourites like Victoria Point’s Sisu Café and Barcella, Coochiemudlo Island’s Curlew Café and in Redland Bay Thai Platinum.
“We know small businesses are so important to our Redlands community and this assistance means they can focus on returning their business to full operation, re-engaging staff who had been stood down and, importantly, employing new staff as well.
“Across Redland City over 280 businesses have been recipients to more the $2.5 million in adaptation grants. This vital funding has assisted small businesses to pivot and adapt to the challenges the Covid-19 pandemic has created. “Our Palaszczuk Government is laser focussed on assisting businesses to unite and recover as we journey through this global economic crisis caused by Covid-19,” Ms Richards said.
