Queensland, we know that the impact of the global pandemic has been felt right across our state.
It has tragically placed the lives of some of our most vulnerable at risk, but has also taken a massive toll on mental health.
We know more Queenslanders are experiencing mental illness and mental health challenges due to the impacts of COVID-19.
We have also seen increased ambulance callouts for mental health challenges.
Supporting mental health is a key part of the recovery process – and the vast majority of us want support for mental health challenges in a localised, community-led service, rather than going to the ED.
That’s why the Palaszczuk Government has announced an additional investment of $46.5m for localised mental health community treatment and support services.
These services will be flexible and enable a rapid response to meet the needs of individuals, families and communities.
This rapid response mental health support will build on existing partnerships between the public, private and NGO sectors to help respond effectively to Queenslanders in their own communities.
We’ll continue to do everything we can to make sure that every Queenslander has the support they need – so that we can continue to unite and recover together
