Capalaba MP Don Brown wants the Birkdale Station park 'n ride redesigned.

Capalaba MP Don Brown and the Palaszczuk government have committed $317,000 to fund the redesign of Birkdale Train Station park 'n ride if re-elected. Mr Brown said the funding of the design work was an important first step to expanding the car park.

“To see the car park full, while there has been wasted space fenced off right next door has always frustrated me," Mr Brown said.

Mr Brown said despite the cement slab holding some sentimental value to him, as he went to pre-school at the site, it was time to design a car park that removed the slab and joined the two car parks. "Birkdale Station is an important station in the Redlands as it provides one of the easiest access for people with disabilities.

I hope that the new design can also include more disability car spaces," he said.
